Characteristics of Mungyeong pottery

Today the value of Mungyeong pottery is increasing in part due to artisans' personal excellence in techniques and also because of the historic and traditional characteristic germane to Mungeong's pottery. Mungyeong has a Sagijang (master craftsman) designated as cultural heritage No. 105 by the Ministry of Culture, Athletics and Tourism, and three Myeongjang (pottery specialists) designated by the Ministry of Labor. There are many ceramics kiln sites in the region specializing in early Joseon, Buncheongsagi and Baekja pottery. Mungyeong's pottery still preserves the spirit of the old masters and its color and shape are natural and beautiful, containing our race's rustic simplicity.
